Metaverse Madness

UH OH! Meta deleted @buttmagazine from Instagram last week, and with it our access to a solid circle of almost 150k queers and their friends. Alongside our biannual pink print issues, BUTT turns out top notch editorial content, artwork and events on Instagram by and for our community. But according to META, this violated their increasingly vague “account integrity” guidelines. Ugh. Since 2001, we’ve shamelessly stood against censorship, and the decisions made by tech superpowers today are directly violating our press freedom. Our own suspension follows a sweep of dozens of queer accounts belonging to art spaces, clubs, bars and organisations in Amsterdam and Berlin over the past few weeks.
