Collaboration

01/07

Brooklyn artist J. Morrison and Xiu Xiu lead homo-singer-songwriter Jamie Stewart have been friends for the past few years, and their friendship has yielded several collaborations. Morrison designed the vinyl sleeves for several Xiu Xiu albums and singles, as well as band t-shirts, and the stickers included in the most recent album, ‘Dear God, I Hate Myself’. Each sticker was part of a set of twelve drawings of mythic homosexual figures with intersexed genitals. Now Morrison and Stewart have decided to release the drawings in a limited edition box set also titled ‘Dear God, I Hate Myself’. Stewart has written twelve new haikus to accompany the drawings, a pastime he enjoys as a respite from the intensity of writing lyrics for his band. The set should appeal to fans of collectible homo zine minutiae. It’s a little pricey at $40 dollars but if you’re a hardcore Xiu Xiu fan, it may be a nice present to yourself. They’re available here and soon at Printed Matter.
