Born in 1924, Peter de Rome didn’t start making gay pornographic films until he was in his forties. In 1971, eight of his cerebral and often bizarre shorts were officially released as 'The Erotic Films of Peter de Rome'. Most of his 8mm films were shot guerrilla-style in public with little or no budget, for just the cost of the stock. Documentary photo lovers in the Lone Star State of Texas will want to check out 'Alvin Baltrop: Dreams Into Glass' at the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston. It's the first major exhibition of work by the bi-curious, eagle-eyed African-American photographer. I first read author Kevin Killian's sexy, but horrific short story 'Spreadeagle' in Bob Glück's writing class at college back in 1992.
