I liked your zoologist comments.
Some ribbon worms will eat themselves if they can’t find any food.
Amazing! Do they just get smaller or do they die?
I did know that about sea otters. I wrote a paper about otters in 4th grade!
So cool.
It was taken at the Earthfire Institute Animal Sanctuary in Idaho.
wow, that’s one of the best photo concepts I’ve ever seen on a profile…. Congratulations.
you are delightfully odd – i truly love your posts and photos!
hiiiiiii
Thanks for the fact. I’m jealous of the number of cats you have on you.
I SEE YOU LOVE CATS.
Somebody loves animals!
your male-necking-giraffe comment was both kinda weird and fun.
I am honored to be your buddy, thou fellow earthling
Do you wanna be my bottlenose dolphin?
I love animal to. Great photo with kittens.
Kittens!
I liked your whale fact. Nice buffalo, or is it a bison? Wait, are they the same thing? No, surely….wait….
I checked wikipedia – it’s a bison! :) But is it a Bison bison, or a Bison bonasus?
did i hear okipa?
….no way!
http://vimeo.com/9415140
Boy, that video was sure something else!
Beyond Redemption is an exhibition based on the elegiac form, history and spirit of the bison and explores the bison’s significance as both icon and food source and friend…
Dude…I love your comments on everyones page. Pretty rich.
Thanks!
Hey Mr. LA…
you responded to someone’s comment by saying, “you looked like a dragonfly kind of guy…” — i sure hope i don’t look like a gorilla.
Gorillas are amazing animals! They can learn American Sign Language! All animals are beautiful!
adorable.
I’m a sucker for a man with kittens
I love to suck a man with kittens
Thanks for sharing…. and enjoy this!

Thanks! I’m totally putting that on my blog!
yr flatworm penis biology has confirmed yr animal lover status…
-let me know if u want 2 hear about field observations of terns devouring their young…
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<Looks Like a Scene From Hangover 2
Nice (but sad) story. And i’m glad you chose me for the dragonflies one. Did i inspire you one of them?
You just looked like a dragon fly kind of guy, I guess!
Dogs are best.
There’s a disturbing photo of a seahorse and scorpion skewer on the “Seahorses” page at Wikipedia.
Do. Not. Want.
sounds like seahorses are similar to me.
They are!
so who is that lucky monkey?
Her name’s Llorona. She lives on an animal refuge in Bolivia called Parque Machia. Someday she may be able to be free back in the jungle.
Aw I hope she does… are you studying zoology ?
Actually, no I just graduated from art school!
oh nice! i’m graduating next semester. can’t wait.
There is a parasite called toxoplasmosis that is found in cats, which one-third of the human population has as well. Apparently, it increases your risk of having a car crash, and makes females more promiscuous.
I heard they also thought it was responsible for cat lady syndrome, but apparently that’s not true.
it brings tears to my eyes to realise how many beautiful individuals populate this planet.
thank you for sharing
Thanks for the interesting factoid Johnnie! Animals are beautiful..
love the giraffe story about 2 males-it lasts an hour?????
I guess now I do :)
Thanks for the insight. Very interesting story. You’re intriguing.
Thank you Johnnie! It is very interesting story!
How do you chose a animal, about which you will tell to a guy?
Well,
I look at a man and try to decide what animal he might relate to the most or what fact he might be most interested in.
-Johnnie
Thanks! I think Zoo Books have had the same commercial since the early 90s…
Johnnie.. Your comments inspire me. <3 Marry me?
hi, you said once : “Did you know that female Spotted Hyenas have an extraordinary genital configuration that makes them superficially resemble males: the clitoris is 90 percent of the length of the males’ penis (nearly seven inches long) and equal to it in diameter? It can be fully erected.”
where did you read that?
I read it in a Biological Exuberance by Bruce Bagemihl
I would probably be in a rut with my boyfriend!

You look pretty, too bad your writing sounds like a Piero Angela TV program :)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piero_Angela
ciao ciao
i did not know that. Are mountain lions solitary or do they travel in prides?
They’re solitary. As I understand it, all big cats (besides African Lions) are solitary.
I’m waiting for you to write me an interesting animal fact
Ask and you shall receive!
you seem like a charming biologist.
That’s terribly flattering. Actually I’m an art student!
Wow how interresting;) thank you
I did not know that. Very interesting. :)
You seem very kind.
did you know i’m actually looking forward to my wildlife fact, really like reading those things :)
Bio-log!
I’ll have to look into that. I love how your picture sort of looks like you’re in the middle of asking that question.
The video made by isabella is really amazing!
nice picture!
I’ll have to, thanks for the recommendations. Wish I clue into our own species sexual habits first though.
no I did not, thought is was more centralized in closer relatives, like female chimpanzees palpating each others clitorises as a relaxing technique or sword fighting among bonobos. did you know that among ducks there is a high prevalence of rape/gang rape? got any others for me?
Oh so many. If you’re interested in this kind of stuff, you should seriously check out the book Nature’s Rainbow by Joan Roughgarden and A Biological Exuberance by Bruce Bagemihl.
P.S.- Earthworms are hermaphrodites and mate in the 69 position.
I love it! Isabella is fast becoming one of my personal heroes!
dude joey like get a job, Johnnie is just trying to spread interesting facts and open up like a great conversation about art and animals. dont be jealous of the fact that he is just way more interesting than you. but I can imagine being angry at like if i looked like Blanche Devereaux from the Golden Girls too…
yeah i tried real hard just for you
Dear Joey,
I am familiar with the definition of spam.
1. these profiles invites solicitation from random strangers- that’s what a personals ad is. Furthermore, Butt being a magazine about gay subculture, I think these Butthead profiles also invite alternative creative expression.
2. I’m sorry I used cut and paste when I left you that comment. But I’m not sorry I didn’t leave you a generic and expected comment about sucking your dick or licking your asshole. I bet you wouldn’t be trying to talk down to me if I cut and pasted a comment like that and posted it on your profile.
I only wanted to share with you some information which I thought you might be interested in.
-Johnnie
Thank you for the zoology lesson. Brilliant.
Wow thanks so much!
i dont know what i can say, i had no idea. i think its very good though
Did you know hermaphroditic flatworms engage in penis jousting?
I totally didn’t know that! I’m watching some vids right now and they’re awesome!
David Attenborough?
I don’t think so. Not sure who put these out and some of them seem pretty home made.
Alex,
I was so inspired by what you told me about flatworms that I made a tribute video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1DjOu2mulU
You tell em that I run it.
Flatworms are total tops. You wouldn’t guess by the look of all those frills. They didn’t even evolve a hole to stick it in.
Love the video!!
No, I didn’t know that!
did you know that I write http://www.randomFAQ.com?
Smart guys are always so sexy!
Cheers . . .
Yea , the natural world is amazing . . . Strange world ; this .
cute!!! I love kittys
I’m a male tabby
♥
,)
Did you know that I really want one of your ‘did you know’s :)
I didn’t. I do, however, know now. Were you familiar with the collective noun for crows. A murder.
Yeah, I had a dream once with all the girls from the Craft in it and they were like, punishing the mean girls at their school or something, and they summoned a bunch of crows to attack the mean and revealed that crazy fact about crows.
I’m the older of two. Hope it counts too !
Cheers
So you’re a “did you know” kind of guy… Did you know that if you are male, every older blood brother you have increases your chances of being gay by one third of the normal rate (unless you are left handed)? (BTW, I surely am an exception: I am the older brother of three).
this sounds like it’s vaguely related to the classic “Monty Hall problem”
I’m the older brother of three as well! I have three younger sisters.
no, I did not know that Johnnie. Thank you for sharing. please feel free to nuzzle my scrotum at any time.
Did you know that Medieval witch hunters believed that witches used the fat of unbaptized babies to create an ointment with which they would fly to thier Witches Sabbats, dance about and engage in all manner of “activities” and at one point, form a line, where each person would then kiss the anus of the devil?
I did not know that! Thanks for sharing!
So do you like rubbing antlers?
I don’t have antlers, but if I did, I probably would like rubbing antlers!
Now you’re making me wish I had antlers… Did you know that a stag’s hearing is greater when he has fully developed antlers? The antlers act as parabolic reflectors, collecting sound around the ear.
